Let’s say you’re a professional soccer goalkeeper and you’ve stayed properly hydrated over the course of a game. Things are apt to get a little dicey over the course of those 90 minutes, if you catch my drift.
If you’re Sam Crocombe, a goalkeeper for Salford City of the National League North in England, you’re simply not going to wait. On Saturday during a game against Bradford Park Avenue, he received a red card for, ahem, watering the pitch.

As told by the Associated Press, one of the 533 Bradford Park Avenue fans in attendance alerted the authorities after spotting Crocombe in the act.
“He was told by the steward twice not to do it and he went ahead and had a pee,” Bradford Park Avenue club secretary Colin Barker said. “He went to the side of the stand as I understand it. I didn’t actually see it but the referee definitely sent him off for it because he was alerted to it by his linesman.
“One of our spectators has made a formal complaint so we’re waiting to see what will happen from there. But there’s no secret about it. It’s been reported to the police.”
Crocombe, a 24-year-old New Zealander, tweeted out an apology later Saturday, saying he was “in a very uncomfortable position.”

Salford won the match, 2-1. As far as this reporter can tell, no yellow cards were given.
