Hometown Hockey: Swift Current, Saskatchewan – NHL.com

NHL Network and Sportsnet will televise “Rogers Hometown Hockey” on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET, prior to the game between the Ottawa Senators and Washington Capitals (Sportsnet). This week’s location is Swift Current, Saskatchewan and the show will celebrate the history of hockey in the city.

Among the features airing on the pregame show:

* Patrick Marleau, a Saskatchewan native, played for the Swift Current Legionnaires and had an impressive rookie season before being selected by the San Jose Sharks second overall in the 1997 NHL Draft. He joined the 1,000 point club this season, and has always kept his roots close.

* Edmonton Oilers coach Todd McLellan was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Swift Current at 26 to coach the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League. He discusses his time with the team and community.

* A look at one of the most successful Swift Current Broncos player, NHL Hall of Famer and current executive vice president/general manager of the Colorado Avalanche Joe Sakic, who had 138 goals and 293 points in 136 games.
