Stormy weather, including lightning and rain in the area, caused the XFINITY Series Alsco 300 to be postponed to Saturday at noon ET.
The race originally was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET Friday. The race will be televised on NBCSN, with radio coverage on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
The threat of lightning in the area led Monster Energy NASCAR Cup qualifying to be shortened to two rounds from three, just prior to the scheduled start of the XFINITY Series race at the 1.5-mile track.
“NASCAR and Kentucky Speedway have decided to postpone tonight’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race until tomorrow,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer. “Fan safety is our No. 1 priority. Due to extreme weather forecasted deep into this evening, we did not see any opportunity to get the race completed tonight.”
Today’s on-track activity had been seamless up until evening storms, with Kyle Larson and Jamie McMurray setting the pace in a pair of Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practices and Kyle Busch winning the pole for the XFINITY Series race slated for this evening.
Most of Thursday’s slate was wiped out due to persistent rain in the area, although the work of the Air Titans and other track-drying equipment dried the track swiftly enough for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to host its race, won by Christopher Bell.
