DETROIT — The U.S. soccer team did what was expected of them and walked all over Haiti for a 5-0 victory. Given all of the shots and chances that the U.S. has, the game could have been much more lopsided than the scoreboard displayed.

Carli Lloyd mimicked her scoring performance from the World Cup final by scoring a hat trick in front of the largest crowd ever to watch a soccer game at Ford Field (34,538). It was the fourth hat trick of Lloyd’s career.

Crystal Dunn, playing in her first game after being called back to the team, added a goal and two assists.

Hope Solo and Ashlyn Harris shared the shutout.

FINAL – USA 5, Haiti 0: Dunn scores on a header from O’Reilly just before the end of the game.

Stoppage time: Abby Wambach has the place nearly explode as her shot sails just over the crossbar.

83rd minute: Carli Lloyd nearly had her fourth goal but could not get enough on the ball with her left foot as she was falling.

69th minute, 4-0, USA: Carli Lloyd scores again! Hat trick. It is her 74th goal in international play. Fourth hat trick of her career

63rd minute: Abby Wambach checked into the game and the place went nuts. Heather O’Reilly in for Christen Press
Christie Rampone in for Tobin Heath

55th minute, 3-0, USA: Christen Press had a good shot that was turned away.

49th and 50th minute, 3-0, USA: Carli Lloyd almost gave the fans in Ford Field a hat trick but her kick rifled off of the cross bar. Soon after. Julie Johnston had a shot from about 25 yards out that was saved.

USA –Ali Krieger in for Kelly O’Hara 46th minute
USA – Ashlyn Harris in for Hope Solo 46
USA – Lauren Holiday in for Morgan Brian 46

HALF – USA 3, Haiti 0: This game, as expected, has been all USA. Many near misses have kept the score closer than it really should be. Could be 6-0 or 7-0 at this point. Carli Lloyd with two goals while new addition Crystal Dunn has two assists.

37th minute, 3-0, USA: PENALTY KICK GOAL by Carli Llyod in the 37th minute. 3-0 U.S.

33rd minute, 2-0, USA: Press with an easy deflection into the Haiti goal. Assist goes to Dunn again. 2-0 U.S.

25th minute, 1-0 USA: It could easily be 3-0 or 4-0 right now in favor of the U.S. but near misses have kept the score close. On the field, however, it has been far from close.

6th minute, 1-0 USA: Crystal Dunn with a beautiful cross to Carli Lloyd for a header from about five yards out. U.S. up 1-0 in the 6th minute

Pregame: The U.S. women’s soccer team is making its third stop on an American tour to celebrate its 2015 World Cup title that it won back on July 5. The World Cup was the first in 16 years for the U.S.

The U.S. was slated to play Australia until the Aussies went on strike last week. Less than 48 hours later, it was confirmed that Haiti would be the replacement opponent for the Americans.

All 23 players from the Women’s World Cup winning team will be in Detroit, while U.S. head coach Jill Ellis has also added NWSL leading scorer Crystal Dunn to the roster for both matches.
