We all know the women from the “Real Housewives” franchise; now get ready for the “Hockey Moms.” Starting this weekend, television viewers will get the chance to follow the adventures of four area hockey moms navigating the demanding world of hockey their kids are immersed in. The 11-part Minnesota-made series will air in the Twin Cities at 6:30 p.m. Saturdays on KSTC-TV (45TV) right during the heart of hockey season.
More than 400 people answered the show’s casting call, with four women earning a spot on the show. So who are these “Hockey Moms?” Here’s what the latest update from the show tells us: Gwen Marty of Stillwater is described as a sexy, spunky single mom with two teenage kids, one of whom plays hockey. She dates a former hockey player and enjoys the sport but doesn’t understand the rules. Shontel Parnell of Cambridge has six kids, five of them in hockey, and is known for being a calm presence in the face of chaos. She’s a business owner with her husband, Clint, who is also a hockey coach. Angie Goren of Rosemount has a love/hate relationship with hockey, is married to former professional hockey player Lee Goren and has two young sons who play the sport. Shay Chamberlain of Menomonie, Wis., is described as loud, proud, outgoing and opinionated. Her family lives on a horse farm and she’s looking for a place for her son to play hockey.
Produced by Twin Cities-based production company McCally-Lee Entertainment, the “Hockey Moms” finale is set to air before the Boys State Class 2A High School Hockey Championship telecast on March 5.
