NASCAR at Dover 2015: Race Schedule, Live Stream Info and Drivers to Watch – Bleacher Report

NASCAR makes its first of two trips to Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware on Sunday for the FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks.

Heading into the race, Kevin Harvick is holding a 41-point lead in the Sprint Cup standings over Martin Truex Jr. Harvick will be looking to put some distance between himself, Truex and the rest of the field at Dover International Speedway.

While most will be watching Harvick and Truex on Sunday, neither of them managed to grab the pole position during qualifying. That was Denny Hamlin who set the pace with a time of 22.483 seconds and a top speed of 160.121 miles per hour.

Last week Carl Edwards grabbed the win in the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he’d love to stay hot to continue his rise up the standings. Here’s how you can watch these drivers continue their chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

Drivers to Watch

Jimmie Johnson

Whenever NASCAR comes to Dover, it’s hard not to focus on Jimmie Johnson. He’s won at this track nine times in his career—including capturing this event in 2014. That’s the most victories he’s enjoyed at any location. Per Dan Gelston of the Associated Press, via Yahoo Sports, Johnson professed his long-time love for the track on Saturday.

“I go all the way back to my first trip here in an ASA (American Speed Association) car,” Johnson said, “and it was love at first sight.”

He has five wins this season, but he’s currently fifth in the standings. A 10th win at Dover would make him just the fifth driver in history with double-digit wins on one track. It would also allow him to make a potential power move up the standings depending on what the drivers ahead of him can do at the race.

Kevin Harvick

Harvick is at the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to success at Dover. He has yet to win at the Monster Mile in 28 career starts.

In fact, he’s had just three top-five finishes. The only other track he’s been to as much and had such sparing success is Martinsville Speedway.

Despite Harvick’s less than stellar history at Dover, Jeff Hammond of Fox Sports expects the No. 4 car to be a factor. Hammond writes:

I expect Jimmie to have pressure from Kevin Harvick. Like we have said repeatedly the last year and a half, no matter what track we visit, that No. 4 car is always bad fast. So while Johnson is likely to be a factor, the same holds true for Harvick.

To hold off his hard-charging fellow drivers, Harvick will need to muster up one of his best performances on one of his least favorite tracks.

Martin Truex Jr.

Truex has won just once at Dover in his career, and that was back in 2007. Despite grabbing the pole twice, the lone victory was also the only time he’s finished in the top five on the track.

All season long he’s supplied consistent pressure on Harvick, though he’s been unable to grab a win at any race as of yet. Truex is second in the standings on the strength of 11 top-10 finishes. Can he keep that consistency or will he finally enjoy a breakthrough with his first victory?

Denny Hamlin

In 18 career starts, Hamlin still hasn’t won in Dover. He does have three top-five finishes. This is the third time Hamlin has won the pole at Dover, but the first starting spot hasn’t rendered much success for him.

He started first in 2012 and finished eighth, and was first again in 2013 and came in 34th. He’ll obviously be hoping to turn the top starting spot into better results on Sunday. He could really use the victory as he’s currently 15th in the Sprint Cup Standings.
