The second half of the Chase begins at Talladega.

The first two races in the Contender Round have been won by Joey Logano. He also leads the points standings. That means the remaining 11 eligible drivers will be battling at Talladega for the remaining seven spots. If a Chase driver besides Logano wins, the top six Chase drivers in points will advance to the Eliminator Round. If Logano wins again, the top seven drivers in points will advance.

Denny Hamlin (Chicago), Matt Kenseth (New Hampshire) and Kevin Harvick (Dover) won the races in the Chase’s first round. A total of 12 drivers now remain from the 16-driver field that began things. Jamie McMurray, Jimmie Johnson, Paul Menard and Clint Bowyer have been eliminated from the Chase.
