USA TODAY Sports

It’s NASCAR race day at Bristol Motor Speedway, and we’ve got some essential information you need to get ready for Sunday’s Food City 500.

START TIME: Half siblings, former driver Kerry Earnhardt and JR Motorsports co-owner Kelley Earnhardt Miller, will instruct drivers to start their engines at 2:07 p.m. ET today, followed by the green flag at 2:13 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV by 2:13 p.m.

RACE DISTANCE: The Food City 500 is is not 500 miles but 500 laps the 0.533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway. That’s a total of 266.5 miles.

SEGMENTS: Beginning this season, NASCAR is dividing every race into segments and awarding one bonus point to the winner of each stage. Segment lengths will be different for every race. Also, the top 10 finishers of segments 1 and 2 will be awarded regular-season points in descending order from 10 to 1. Here are the segments for the Food City 500: Stage 1: 125 laps; Stage 2: 125 laps; Stage 3: 250 laps.

NATIONAL ANTHEM/FLYOVER: Recording artist Todd Smith, lead singer of Selah, will perform the national anthem before today’s race. T-38s from the 49th Fighter Training Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi will perform a flyover.

TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: Fox will broadcast today’s race and has a pre-race show beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET. The Performance Racing Network (PRN) and Sirius/XM Radio will call the race on the radio.

LIVE STREAMING: Fox is offering a live stream through its Fox Sports Go app.

WEATHER: Really bleak. The Weather Channel is calling for rain in the area all day with a high temperature only in the low 50s. Don’t be surprised if the race is delayed or postponed. Monday’s outlook calls for much better conditions.

LAST TIME: Kevin Harvick earned the second of four wins in 2016, leading the final 71 laps of the Bristol Night Race that was twice delayed for rain and then postponed until the race resumed Sunday afternoon with more than 400 laps remaining. And one year ago, Carl Edwards dominated, leading a race-high 276 laps, including the final 104, to earn the first of back-to-back wins in April 2016.

STARTING LINEUP: Rain washed out qualifying Friday, leading the series to set the lineup based on owners’ points and putting Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson on the pole. Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott, ranked second in the standings, will start outside Larson on the front row.
