After the horrendous videos of a man being physically dragged off a United Airlines plane Sunday evening went viral, the company has been chastised on the internet for how poorly it handled and overbooking situation.

There are plenty of issues being debated as the story has made national headlines, but much of it is about how United addressed a problem of its own making because it – like every other airline does – overbooked a plane. The overwhelming reaction from many was to attack airlines for constantly overbooking flights.

But NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski had a different opinion.

Although Keselowski did not say anything on Twitter about how the passenger was treated on the United plane, he addressed one Twitter user’s suggestion of making overbooking illegal.

He tweeted: “Making over booking illegal would cost millions, maybe billions of dollars in cost/waste that makes its way to the consumer & environment.”

Does he have a point?
