NASCAR handed out warnings Wednesday afternoon for issues discovered in technical inspection last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, host to the final race of the Contender Round in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
While no Chase teams received a warning, the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team of six-time Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson was issued a warning for twice failing NASCAR’s LASER Inspection Platform.
Meanwhile, the Sprint Cup Series teams of Sam Hornish Jr., Cole Whitt and Landon Cassill were each hit with a warning for twice failing NASCAR’s inspection template.
In streamlining its warning system back in August, NASCAR ruled that every fourth warning a team receives would result in automatic loss of pit selection at the next event.
