NASCAR issues warnings to teams of Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Ryan Newman – FOXSports.com

Three teams — all participants in last year’s Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup — received written warnings from NASCAR Wednesday afternoon after issues getting through inspection last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing team of Carl Edwards and the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing team of Martin Truex Jr. were each handed a written warning for failing template inspection twice in pre-qualifying inspection for the Kobalt 400.

The No. 31 Richard Childress Racing team of Ryan Newman, meanwhile, was issued a written warning for failing NASCAR’s Laser Inspection Station twice in pre-race inspection.

The No. 78 team is already without crew chief Cole Pearn this weekend as the second-year pit boss serves a one-race suspension for a roof-flap violation on Truex’s car at Atlanta Motor Speedway two weekends ago.
