NASCAR has issued warnings to four Sprint Cup Series teams for failing to pass inspections last weekend at Michigan International Speedway, a NASCAR spokesman confirmed to FOXSports.com on Wendesday morning.
The Joe Gibbs Racing teams of drivers Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards, along with the Premium Motorsports team of driver Josh Wise, have been warned for failing pre-qualifying inspection for the Quicken Loans 400.
Meanwhile, the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports team of Dale Earnhardt Jr. was issued a warning for flunking pre-race inspection.
No penalties were handed down by NASCAR for infractions during the Michigan race weekend.
However, warnings on back-to-back race weekends constitute an automatic P1-level penalty on NASCAR’s six-tier penalty Deterrence System that originated in 2014.
A warning next weekend at Sonoma Raceway to any of the four teams warned at Michigan could result in last choice of pit stalls, reduction of practice time, reduction of qualifying time, delay in order of inspection or being selected for post-race inspection at a future event.
