NASCAR unveils new Monster Energy Cup championship trophy – Motorsport.com, Edition: Global
A new title sponsor for NASCAR’s premier series also means a new championship trophy.
NASCAR finally unveiled the new-look trophy on Thursday through its social media channels. It stands 37 inches tall, weighs nearly 70 pounds and holds roughly 600 ounces, the equivalent of more than 37 16-oz. Monster Energy drinks.
The official name of the trophy is the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup and was designed by championship manufacturer Jostens. Jostens has produced championship rings and trophies for the NFL, NBA, MHL, Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball as well as NASCAR.
According to NASCAR, the trophy required more than 300 hours of craftsmanship and is made of machined aluminum.
Among the most unique features of the trophy are the outlines of the 23 tracks currently used in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series mark was hand-formed around the center ring and the Monster Energy “Claw” is embedded in the base.
