Dillon dominated the first half of the race in particular, as he led each of the first 98 laps before a trip to pit road allowed Darrell Wallace Jr. to assume the No. 1 spot.
Dillon won the pole with the No. 33 car, which was a sign of things to come for the youngster. According to NASCAR Xfinity on Twitter, he was similarly dominant during the most recent race at a 1.5-mile track at which he started on the pole:
L35: Dillon has led every lap so far.
The last time he won the pole at a 1.5 mile race, he led 183 laps and won at Las Vegas on March 7.

Despite Dillon’s penchant for running well from the pole position, his dominance was still somewhat surprising due to the fact that his track record at Charlotte Motor Speedway wasn’t great entering the race.
Per NASCAR Xfinity, Dillon had barely run up front at Charlotte in any of NASCAR’s top three series prior to Saturday:
L90: Coming into this race, Dillon led a total of 10 laps at Charlotte in NASCAR Sprint Cup, XFINITY & Trucks combined.
He’s led 90 today.

Although his success at Charlotte Motor Speedway was only modest leading up to the Hisense 300, he is certainly no stranger to the track.
The 25-year-old young gun was born in Lewisville, North Carolina, and he has fond memories of taking in races at his home track, according to ESPN.com’s Bob Pockrass:
I don’t know how many laps I watched different drivers go into Turn 1 over the years. I was kind of studying and watching. … I thought this place was always really intimidating, fast and cool. When I finally got the first time to come here, it was like the “Days of Thunder” scene –wide open. It is an intense track.
Dillon’s familiarity with the track seemed to come into play significantly Saturday, as he continued to find his way to the front of the pack, even after initially giving up the lead on Lap 99.
One thing that helped Dillon immensely was the fact that it was a fairly clean race. It wasn’t completely without incidents, though, as Jamie Dick went hard into the wall on the 47th lap, as seen in this GIF courtesy of Fox Sports: NASCAR:

Dillon was actually aided by a caution on Lap 158, though, as Kyle Fowler cutting his tire right after some potential contenders pitted led to the likes of Kevin Harvick and Erik Jones going down a lap.
That allowed Dillon and the other leaders to make a yellow-flag pit stop, and he emerged as the leader ahead of Hamlin by virtue of his advantageous pit stall positioning.
Unfortunately for Dillon, though, he restarted extremely poorly, which led to Hamlin, Kahne and Regan Smith all moving past him with less than 40 laps remaining.
Perhaps Hamlin’s move to the lead shouldn’t have come as a big surprise since he won the Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway last weekend and has traditionally finished well there in the Xfinity Series:
L168: Denny Hamliln now in the lead.
He’s finished in the top 5 in his last four NASCAR XFINITY starts at Charlotte.

Dillon soon re-established himself in third and began to chase both Kahne and Hamlin. After passing Kahne with 24 laps to go, he set his sights firmly on Hamlin.
He finally regained the lead with 16 laps left, although Hamlin wouldn’t give it up without a fight. After a couple of laps of battling, though, Dillon was able to widen the gap.
Nobody could catch him at that point, which allowed him to cruise to his fourth career victory on the Xfinity circuit.
Dillon has yet to win a Sprint Cup race in his young career, but after being so thoroughly dominant Saturday, he will undoubtedly enter Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600 with plenty of confidence.
If he is able to take what he did in the Hisense 300 and apply it to the longer and more grueling Sprint Cup race, then he has a chance to punch his ticket to the Chase on Sunday.
