No rain in the forecast for Sunday’s NASCAR race at Chicagoland – FOXSports.com

Weather has played havoc with the NASCAR schedule this year, but it won’t be a factor in today’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 from Chicagoland Speedway.

According to weather.com, there is a zero – zero! – percent chance of rain all day at the 1.5-mile track in Joliet, Ill. That means the opening race in the 2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup will go on as scheduled at 2:30 p.m. ET and go the full distance.

Friday at Chicagoland, weather did play a factor, when Sprint Cup qualifications were rained out for the third year in a row.

That means the field is lined up per the NASCAR rule book, which put No. 1 Chase seed Kyle Busch on pole in his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, flanked by the No. 2 seed Brad Keselowski and his No. 2 Team Penske Ford.

But in Saturday’s two Sprint Cup practices, Chevrolet drivers dominated.

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single-lap speed in both practices, while Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson were most impressive in fastest 10 consecutive lap average speeds. In Saturday’s first practice, Harvick and Johnson were 1-2 in that category and in Happy Hour, Johnson led the way with Harvick third.
