Police investigate bomb threat phone call during Thursday NASCAR practice – Autoweek


An anonymous bomb threat was called in Thursday regarding Daytona International Speedway but local law enforcement swept through the facility and found no traces of any explosive devices.

A statement from the Daytona Police Department reads as follows:

“On Thursday afternoon, June 29, 2017, a call was received at the front desk of the Daytona Beach Police Department regarding a bomb threat at the Speedway. The caller said he had placed multiple bombs on Speedway property. A thorough check of the property was done and nothing was found an hour into the search.”

Police obtained a phone number and officers are working to identify and locate the caller. Track activity will proceed as planned on Friday for the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity race weekend.
