Richard Childress Racing will field eight NASCAR teams in 2017 – Autoweek

Richard Childress Racing has stacked the deck in its efforts to return to the forefront of NASCAR in 2017. The legendary Chevrolet organization announced on Wednesday that it would run eight full-time teams across the Monster Energy Cup Series and Xfinity Series respectively.

Austin Dillon, Paul Menard and Ryan Newman have each been retained from their 2016 assignments and will work with crew chiefs Slugger Labbe, Matt Borland and Luke Lambert. Combined, they hope to end a 109-race winless streak that dates back to when Kevin Harvick won the fall event at Phoenix International Raceway. Additionally, RCR contracted driver Ty Dillon has already been announced as a full-time Cup contender with Germain Racing in the No. 13 Chevrolet.

RCR is also doubling down in the Xfinity Series and will employ over six drivers across five Chevrolets. Brandon Jones, Brendan Gaughan and Daniel Hemric will compete for the championship in the No. 33, 62 and 21 cars.

The No. 2 will be split between Menard and Austin Dillon while the No. 3 will be split between Ty Dillon and several unnamed drivers.

The crew chiefs for each NXS teams are as follows:

2. Justin Alexander
3. Matt Swiderski
21. Danny Stockman
33. Nick Harrison
62. Shane Wilson
