Great Britain are highly unlikely to repeat their stunning performance at the home Games, but Team GB chiefs remain confident that their athletes will impress once again.
“If all stars align and things go perfectly, it could be as good as 79 medals,” said Simon Timson, UK Sport director of performance. “We can be confident it will be our best ever away Games.”
The sports data company Infostrada track all countries’ performances in events between Olympic Games to generate a predicted medal count ahead of the actual event.
