A pair of first-half goals and a stout defensive effort allowed the Rutgers women’s soccer team to advance to its first Big Ten Tournament championship game berth.
Colby Ciarrocca and Jennifer Andresen scored 31 minutes apart in the first half and goalkeeper Casey Murphy notched her conference-leading 15th shutout of the season as the third-seeded Scarlet Knights blanked seventh-seeded Ohio State, 2-0, on Friday afternoon in University Park, Pa.

Rutgers will await the winner of the other Big Ten Tournament semifinals game between Penn State and Michigan.
The final is set for 2 p.m. Sunday on the Penn State campus.

It marks Rutgers’ first-ever appearance in a Big Ten championship game.in any sport.
With the win, the Scarlet Knights (16-2-2) matched the program record for victories set in 2006.
