Soccer community reacts to the terror attacks in Brussels – Los Angeles Times

Sometimes things like soccer just don’t matter. Especially after tragedies like Tuesday’s terror attacks in Brussels that left at least 31 people dead and many more injured.

Belgium’s national soccer team canceled practice Tuesday, just a week before a friendly match against Portugal.

“Our thoughts are with the victims. Football is not important today,” the Belgian soccer federation tweeted. “Training cancelled.”

The friendly match, which is supposed to be a warmup for the European Championship later this year, is scheduled for March 29 at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. Belgium’s capital city also was the location of Tuesday’s practice.
