Tens of thousands turned out Saturday for the opening ceremony of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The event was scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. at the stadium located on Figueroa Street near the USC campus south of downtown. But the official ceremony had not yet begun by 6:30 p.m.
Stilt walkers and tumblers led the parade of athletes into the noisy stadium, with the delegation from Greece arriving first, as is traditionally the case in the regular Olympic Games.
