The transgender swimming group that’s changing lives – Mashable

For trans swimmers, entering a pool changing room is the most feared moment, TAGS founder Francis tells Mashable.

TAGS has removed this crucial barrier. There are three changing rooms at the pool and swimmers can use one that corresponds with their gender identity — be that female, male, or non-binary. 

Once in the pool, swimmers alternate between swimming and chatting in groups, or one-on-one.

In one corner, TAGS member Alex White is learning to swim with the assistance of an instructor.

It’s clear, even from an outsider’s perspective, that this isn’t just a place where swimmers gather — it’s a group of close friends.
