When the XFINITY Series took the green flag for Saturday’s Lakes Region 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Matt Wallace made NASCAR history.
When the 19-year-old third-generation driver — following in the footsteps of his father, Mike Wallace — made his first career NASCAR start, the Wallace family became the first to have a father, son and daughter all compete in NASCAR.
While Mike and his daughter, Chrissy, were not entered in the event, both have previous NASCAR starts. Mike’s older brother, Rusty, was the 1989 Sprint Cup champion and a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Chrissy has two career XFINITY Series starts and seven Camping World Truck Series starts from 2008 to 2010. Matt Wallace has one ARCA Racing Series start — a 10th-place finish at Toledo Speedway.
Matt also announced he would be making his second career XFINITY Series start at Iowa Speedway, where his uncle Kenny will be making his final NASCAR start.
Matt is scheduled to start 29th in Saturday’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, driving the No. 26 JGL Toyota.
