WATCH: Kazakhstan hockey player delivers hilarious dive at Worlds – CBSSports.com

Nigel Dawes, who was born in Winnipeg and played 212 games in the NHL, is now representing the nation of Kazakhstan in international hockey. Having played the last five seasons for Astana Barys, the Kazakhstan-based KHL franchise, he managed to gain citizenship to switch his international allegiance on the ice.

Well, it’s a good thing he moved far away from Canada, because if Don Cherry ever gets a look at what Dawes did at the World Championship Tuesday, he might not be allowed to come back.

In a game against Norway during the 2016 IIHF World Championship’s preliminary round, Dawes delivered a hit that Norwegian defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen took slight exception to. Tollefsen tripped up Dawes behind the play, but the Kazakh forward wanted to make sure the referees saw it.

As a result, Dawes delivered a cartoonish dive, one of the more egregious you’ll see in hockey (via @HockeyWebCast):

The reaction from the broadcaster tells you all you need to know.

That just may be the most spectacular dive I’ve seen since Rodney Dangerfield’s “Triple Lindy” in Back to School.

Both players were penalized on the play, Tollefsen for tripping and Dawes for embellishment, obviously.
