Having led 1-0 at halftime, Wolfsburg were hopeful of stealing a win in Tuesday night’s Bundesliga match against German champions Bayern Munich. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski had other ideas, though, and casually scored five goals in just under nine minutes after coming off the bench as a substitute.
Lewandowski’s feat marked the fastest five goals ever scored in the history of Germany’s top soccer league. The 27-year-old scored his first three, known as a hat-trick, in just four minutes, breaking another league record. The 5-1 loss also ruined Wolfsburg’s hopes of recording their fifth consecutive shutout.
