The wife of noted NASCAR engine builder Ernie Elliott remains in custody more than a week after her arrest on felony aggravated assault charges for allegedly attempting to run over her husband with her car.

Sheila Elliott, 63, of Dawsonville, Ga., was arrested April 1. A bond of $10,000 was set Tuesday by Magistrate Judge Tony Tarnacki.

A check of Dawson County (Ga.) Sheriff Office inmates shows Sheila Elliott is still in custody as of mid-Wednesday afternoon.

The sister-in-law of NASCAR Hall of Fame member Bill Elliott and aunt of defending Xfinity Series champion Chase Elliott, Sheila Elliott is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing in Magistrate Court on April 29.

Tarnacki set several restrictions upon Sheila Elliott if she posts bond, including:

* She cannot have any contact with her husband.

* She must stay away from the Elliott family business on Elliott Family Parkway in Dawsonville.

Ernie Elliott owns and operates a shop there, where the original incident occurred on March 18. Sheila Elliott allegedly attempted to run over her husband with her 2004 Mercedes sedan.
