2016 All-Academic Team: spring sports – The San Diego Union-Tribune
The 2015-16 spring season for high school sports concludes the 31st year of The San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team. The names of 7,790 student-athletes appear on these pages. For the 2015-16 school year, about 16,000 All-Academic Team certificates were awarded among the approximately 160,000 high school students in the San Diego Section.
All-Academic Team
The All-Academic Team honors juniors and seniors who participated in a California Interscholastic Federation-approved varsity sport and maintained a cumulative, weighted grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Marks above 4.0 reflect grades from honors classes weighted on a 5.0 scale. Some school districts make more 5.0 classes available than others.
The Union-Tribune and the county Office of Education invited all San Diego Section schools to participate. The names and GPAs printed here were taken from information provided by the schools.
This week, the Union-Tribune will announce its All-Academic Team Captains for the spring sports. The Captain’s plaque is symbolic of each sport’s Academic Athlete of the Year.
In addition, the Union-Tribune will announce the Male and Female Academic Athletes of the Year for 2015-16 — the All-Academic Team’s top honors.
