Bow High School wrestler Anna Krause (above) found her way to the top of the podium on Sunday, claiming first place in the girls’ seventh- and eighth-grade Folkstyle New England championships in Springfield, Mass. Krause was dominant throughout, pinning her way all the way through the tournament to win the 112-pound weight class. Krause will now turn her attention towards the freestyle New England championships on April 1.
Youth basketball
The Concord Boys & Girls Club fifth- and sixth-grade boys’ basketball team won the Bow Athletic Club Basketball Tournament over the weekend. Moses Carr was named the Tournament MVP while teammates Quinton Pincoske and Max Leahy were selected for the All-Tournament Team.
Ami Rivera finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals for the Concord Boys & Girls Club seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ basketball team in a 44-39 loss to Laconia in the BAC finals. Isabella Rivera added eight points with five rebounds as both players were named to the BAC All-Tournament Team.
Youth hockey
A late comeback in the third period led the Concord Capitals 10U girls’ ice hockey team to a 3-2 victory over the Seacoast Spartans in the state championship game. Abby Brennan, Ireland Fredrickson and Erin Keville all scored for Concord.
The McDevitt Trucks Concord Capitals Mite 1 team knocked off the Dover Wild, 3-0, in the NE Amateur Hockey ‘A’ Division title game on Sunday. Brayden Beauregard notched two goals and Finan Murphy picked up the other score to cap off an undefeated run through the tournament. Carter Doherty, Michael Mounsey, Tad Stokes and Michael Barry anchored the defense in the shutout.
College standouts
Concord’s Nick Zavorotny made nine saves in goal for the Husson men’s lacrosse team in a 21-10 loss to Rivier on Monday afternoon.
Proctor Academy result
The Proctor Academy’s girls’ varsity basketball team won its second straight NEPSAC Class C championship with a 53-48 win over St. Andrew’s School. Amanda Torres led the Hornets with 18 points while Angelique Ngalakulondi added 14 points. Proctor entered the New England tournament as the fifth seed and beat top-ranked and previously undefeated St. Luke’s School in overtime Saturday.

UNH women’s lacrosse summer camp will be held June 26-28. The camp is open to girls entering grades 6-12 in the 2017-18 academic year. There are commuter and overnight options, both of which include meals provided at UNH dining facilities. The overnight also includes housing in UNH dormitories. Cost is $375 for the commuter option and $450 for overnight campers. There is a group/team discount available for overnight campers. UNH women’s basketball camp is now accepting registrations online. The camps are open to girls in grades 2-9 as of the fall of 2017. Session One will run June 26-30. UNH field hockey summer camps are now accepting registrations for three 2017 camps: session I (June 28-July 1), session II (July 5-8) and a youth clinic (July 6-7). Session I and II are open to junior high and high school students (as of fall 2017). There are overnight ($475) and commuter ($375) options for both sessions. The youth clinic will be held from 9-11 a.m. and is open to ages 5-12. The cost is $35 per day or $60 for both days. UNH women’s soccer camps are now open for registration. The 2017 Junior Wildcat Girls Soccer Camp will be held from July 10-13. All female players in grades 1-5 (as of the 2017-18 academic year) are invited to register. Four morning sessions will be taught by UNH women’s soccer staff and players. Each day runs from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. This session costs $180. The 2017 UNH Girls Soccer Overnight Camp will be held from July 16-19. This session is open to all female player in grades 6-12 (as of the 2017-18 academic year). The overnight option costs $530 and the commuter option totals $430. Franklin High School Boosters Club Winter Sports Banquet will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the FHS cafeteria. A pot luck meal will begin at 6 p.m., followed by individual and specialty awards given by each team before splitting into classrooms for certificates and letters. The girls and boys basketball teams are responsible to bring main dishes and the wrestling and indoor track teams are to bring desserts.
Culture of Sports conference hosted by NHTI Sports Management Club is on April 7 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will include keynote speaker Jamie Staton from WMUR, plus Monitor Sports Editor Tim O’Sullivan and others. The conference is for sports-minded professionals from every level including sports management majors, coaches, aspiring athletic directors and sports executives.
