An accidental explosion rocked a sports center in the Belgian
city of Chimay shortly after midnight local time on Friday,

Reuters
 and
The Associated Press
reported.

At least one person was killed and as many as four were believed
to be injured, two of them seriously, Reuters
said
.

A report
from the Guardian
noted that there may have been five people
in the building.

The explosion partially destroyed the building located on Rue de
Chalon.

The official cause of the explosion is unknown, but an official
with Belgium’s Crisis Center said “the information that I
have is that it due to an accident, probably
gas,” 
according
to the AP
, adding that there was no indication of it being a
terrorist attack.

Two people who suffered serious burns was rushed to nearby
hospitals, and another two with minor injuries are being treated
at a local health centre,
Daily Star reported
.

Emergency services and rescue workers were working at the site,

Breaking 911 reported
.

The rescue services said that people were trapped under the
rubble, the AP reported.

A municipal stage of emergency has been proclaimed
and police have sealed off the scene,
local media reported
.

Chimay is located in the province of Hainaut, near the border
with France and about 75 miles south of Brussels.
