BT forced to give customers refund for sports channels – Telegraph.co.uk

A spokesman for BT said: “We wrote to all BT Sport customers to ensure that they could choose their preferred option before the start of the season. Customers are able to leave BT Sport with no penalty. Those who call in to cease the BT Sport Pack can get a full refund of the cost.”

BT expanded its sports offering on 1 August, giving customers the choice of a four-channel premium package and a single channel basic package.

BT’s sports expansion has previously caused controversy. Critics said the company’s £897m bid to capture the Champions League from ITV and Sky, would effectively have to be paid for through higher charges on standard broadband and landlines for other customers, an accusation denied by the company.
