CBS Sports 128: Georgia, LSU trending up; SEC with five of top 15 – CBSSports.com

CBS Sports 128: 1-25 | 26-128

The top of the CBS Sports 128 did not see much change over the weekend. Ohio State retained the lead spot with Ole Miss still at No. 2; Notre Dame, Michigan State, Georgia, UCLA and Baylor did a five-team shuffle from spots 3-8, and TCU still sits a step back from what our voting panel sees as the top tier of teams in the country.

Utah is the lone new face in the top 10, jumping up 14 spots to No. 9 after knocking off Oregon in Eugene on Saturday night. The Ducks fell out of the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2009 after the loss, and the result was similar in the CBS Sports 128 with a drop from No. 15 to No. 40.

Other new arrivals to the top 25 this week include Michigan (up to No. 21 after beating BYU), Florida (No. 22) and Iowa (No. 23).

While the SEC has seen teams like Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee moving down the rankings, the league has a strong representation up top with five of the top 15 teams in the 128. The Big Ten saw the biggest surge in the conference count getting Michigan and Iowa added to its tally and moving into second place among the Power Five conferences.

Here’s a breakdown how each conference fared in the top 25 of the CBS Sports 128 (highest-ranked team in parenthesis).

Pac-12: 5 (No. 7 — UCLA)
