Decathlon Utsav, aptly named so, was all about celebrations. Held recently in the city the event was a multi sports extravaganza, aimed to foster the sporting spirit and mass participation from the public. People, irrespective of age, gender and fitness, participated in it. The Utsav was organised to mark the second anniversary of Decathlon’s new outlet Anubhav on New Airport Road. It was gala sports event held across two days in the five acre sports facility of Decathon Anubhav.
The sports meet evoked a tremendous response, with over 1,500 participants in various events such as cricket, table tennis, under-16 football, wall climbing, cycling etc.
It also included fitness contests in yoga and a pedometer test. There was also a sports quiz. According to Decathlon officials, making sports accessible and available to all has been their motto. With over 1,000 stores in 24 countries, the French Company has been at the forefront of marketing international class sports equipments at affordable pricing.
They stock over 5,000 products which cater to all sports patrons and encourage customers to try out the gear and get a first-hand feel of their products.
“Our vision is to create a sports environment in the society and the Utsav was a major step in that direction. Our participants were aged between six and 60 years, having fun with sports. We plan to do more such sports meets in future,” said the Decathlon spokesperson.
