Many sports fans in Chicago were facing a dilemma on Saturday with the Chicago Cubs scheduled to face the Kansas City Royals about an hour before their Chicago Blackhawks take the ice against the Anaheim Ducks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
Mother Nature solved that, sending a mix of rain, wind, cold and all around miserable weather to Chicago, resulting in the Cubs game being postponed and rescheduled for September.
That’s good news for the fans, who can now give their full attention to the Blackhawks. Apparently, it’s also good news for the Cubs, who despite the rain gathered on the field to take this team photo of every player and coach sporting a Blackhawks jersey and showing city unity.
That looks like a group that’s ready to watch hockey. Baseball can wait until Sunday.
Those are a couple pretty cool shots.

While Chicago and the surrounding areas may be divided in their baseball rooting interests, the entire region comes together for the Blackhawks much the same way they do for the Chicago Bears in the fall. It’s a hockey town until the summer officially begins, and the hope after Saturday is that they’ll have more hockey to watch until mid-June.
Here’s one other note on something cool the Cubs had planned in conjunction with the Blackhawks game.
That would have been a cool treat and a wild atmosphere.
Perhaps they can save that for a future date, perhaps as soon as this year’s Stanley Cup Finals. Then again, the Ducks will have a say about that on Saturday night.
Given how this series has gone so far, Game 7 is sure to be an instant classic.
