David Feherty called his last tournament for CBS Sports this past weekend at the Barclays, according to a report on Tuesday.
John Ourand of Sports Business Daily is reporting that CBS Sports has decided not to renew Feherty’s contract, ending what has been a 19-year relationship. SBD’s sources said the sides could not agree on Feherty’s role.
CBS Sports declined comment when reached via email. When reached at home, Feherty’s wife, Anita, said she heard no news of the split. She said David was at a charity function at the time of the call. A voice message left on David Feherty’s cell phone has not yet been returned.
The outspoken Feherty joined CBS in 1997 as an on-course reporter and analyst and has long been the on-course voice of the broadcast, standing out with his candor and wit.
Feherty was born in Northern Ireland but became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in 2010. A five-time European Tour winner, Feherty retired from professional golf in 1997.
The 57-year-old Feherty has a relationship with NBC and Golf Channel with his show “Feherty.”
