Discovery Communications boss David Zaslav has been going deep into the sports world, meeting sports federations around the globe and having chats with the International Olympics Committee.
The Olympics arrive on Discovery’s Eurosport network in 2018. So no wonder his end-of-the summer bash was scheduled to be thick with sports stars.
Slated to attend the Saturday night party in East Hampton were tennis legends Serena Williams, Henri Leconte and Mats Wilander.
The event is starting to look like Sun Valley East, with Russian billionaire Yuri Milner set to rub shoulders with invitees like Goldman Sachs boss Lloyd Blankfein, Credit Suisse’s vice chair of investment banking, Fred Terrell, and investor Mario Gabelli also on the list.
Tyler Perry, Lorne Michaels and Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer were also expected, but it’s OTM’s guess that Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley will hit the dance floor for snowy-haired rocker Rod Stewart, who’s the crooner in charge this year. Photos please of Barry Diller, or anyone else, lip-syncing Stewart’s classic “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”
On the Money hears Milner, who is a big Facebook investor, is having his own Hamptons party on Sunday.
