Mike Francesa, everyone’s No. 1 favorite sports personality, opened his show on Monday in typical fashion. Francesa began talking about the U.S. Open and the first year coverage by Fox Sports, saying he didn’t want to bury the company only to spend a solid portion of his five and a half hour show complaining about it.
Let the parody Francesa Twitter account explain…
Bear in mind Francesa’s radio show is now simulcast on Fox Sports 1 and 2, at least on days it isn’t preempted for other programming. Francesa’s status at both Fox and on CBS radio have come under increased scrutiny lately. On air he’s repeatedly said he won’t talk about his contract or anything specific contractually about Fox, but that didn’t keep him from bashing his simulcast home.
The ESPN/Bill Simmons rules don’t exactly apply at Fox, because once again Jay and Dan from Fox Sports Live decided to troll Francesa again for his anti-Fox takes later Monday night. You can watch said trolling in the video clip posted below. If anything the clip is tame, but accomplishes it’s goal since a sports blog such as this is writing about it because, umm, hooray summer #content.
Perhaps during his show on Tuesday a caller will bring up the Fox Sports Live jab because there’s not a chance in the world Francesa watched Fox Sports Live. My guess if Francesa would dismiss the barb, saying something like, “I wouldn’t know who those guys were if you put them in a lineup.”
