With zero fanfare and no good-byes last month, the Fox Sports Midwest “Girls” were phased out — and not only in STL, but in Fox Sports’ other television markets across the U.S.
That means Kayla Knierem, Teryn Schafer and Katie Shirell no longer will be seen promoting Fox events during Cardinals and Blues games.
Geoff Goldman, a spokesman for Fox, provided the following statement:
“Fox Sports is constantly evaluating our marketing programs in an effort to keep them fresh and provide the most engaging experience for our viewers. As a result, we have decided to end the Fox Sports Girls program to focus on other projects that serve our fans.”
(Like projects, one would assume, that don’t refer to grown women as “girls.”)
