A BLOGGER has sparked fury for an article complaining Rihanna is going to make “being fat the hot new trend”.
New York-based Chris Spagnuolo also claimed the singer looked like she weighed “180lbs” in photos taken of her a week ago.
Written by New York-based Chris “Spags” Spagnuolo and posted on the site Barstool Sports, the article since been taken down amid a flurry of outrage.
The cruel article speculated on her weight, saying she may have been “enjoying that good room service a bit too long”.
He also went on to say that her position as an influencer could encourage other women to gain weight.
Calling it a “dangerous precedent”, he added: “A world of ladies shaped like the Hindenburg loaded into one-piece bathing suits may be on the horizon now that Rihanna is traipsing around out there looking like she’s in a sumo suit.”
His article sparked an instant Twitter storm – from both users and other publications.
Allure Magazine retweeted the link, stating: “Using misogyny & body-shaming women as a way to earn Twitter engagement is a pretty pathetic path to success. Just FYI.”
One person simply wrote: “D*** move bro.”
Another said: “I’m not a Rhianna fan or a woman and I thought the article was repulsive. Also it reads like it was written by a 5-year-old.”
One woman tweeted him saying: “Something tells me that you… don’t have to worry about whether Rihanna or Ashley Graham are attracted to you, dear sir.”
“Breathe easy bud, girls like Rihanna would never be into dudes like you so you don’t have to worry about it, another wrote.”
Incredibly, he remained unrepentant and continued trying to antagonise people on Twitter.
One of his subsequent tweets read: “My boss can’t handle getting called out in Cosmo now that he’s trying to f*** anyyone (sic) who reads Teen Vogue.”
He also made light of the abuse he was receiving, writing: “One sad fact about my situation: I carried way too many people’s strollers and carts up subway stairs lately and felt overdue for good karma”.
