George Pell guilty verdict fallout LIVE: Victorian premier Daniel Andrews says Pell victims were betrayed, NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian ‘absolutely shocked and disgusted’ by Cardinal’s behaviour – The Age
Cardinal Pell is due to return to court on Wednesday for a pre-sentence hearing, where Crown prosecutor Mark Gibson, SC, will address Chief Judge Peter Kidd on the seriousness of the offending and the impact it had on the victims.
Pell’s victim, who testified at the trial, is not expected to attend tomorrow. His lawyer is set to read his victim impact statement to the court.
Pell’s lawyer Robert Richter, QC, will outline to the judge any mitigating factors that could reduce Pell’s sentence, such as his age, poor health and lack of criminal priors and the damage caused to his reputation.
Judge Kidd has said Pell will be remanded in custody after Wednesday’s hearing, and he is likely to impose a sentence in the next fortnight.
