Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until next year – The Verge

Gran Turismo’s PlayStation 4 debut will have to wait a little while longer. Sony has announced that Gran Turismo Sport — which was originally slated to launch on the PS4 in November, with additional support for PlayStation VR — has been delayed until 2017.

“As we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport, which we’ve already dedicated so much effort towards since announcing the title,” explained Kazunori Yamauchi, founder of GT studio Polyphony Digital. “We do not want to compromise the experience in any way.”

GT Sport was initially announced back in October 2015, and is the first entry in the series since 2013’s Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3. While Sport isn’t a full-fledged entry in the franchise, it does include a handful of new features beyond updated graphics and VR support. Most notably, it will feature live competitive e-sports events that are expected to take place on a regular basis. Unfortunately for fans of the series, no new release date has been given beyond 2017.

“While we cannot confirm a new release date at this time, we are more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date,” said Yamauchi.
