Greg Stremlaw, the former CEO of Curling Canada, has been named the new head of CBC Sports.
Stremlaw’s priority will be to lead CBC Sports’ strategy, placing emphasis on multi-platform sports journalism, amateur sports and a collaborative partnership approach to marquee events.
“It is a privilege and an honour to be joining such a world-class team and an organization synonymous with broadcasting excellence,” said Stremlaw. “I am very proud to be a part of CBC Sports and look forward to helping to continue CBC’s tradition of exceptional sport coverage for Canadians.”
Stremlaw boosted Curling Canada’s financial profile by negotiating television deals with TSN and RDS. Stremlaw began his duties with the organization in 2007 and resigned this past May.
“Greg joins CBC with a wealth of experience in sports governance, management, production and programming, negotiating sponsorships and building relationships with broadcast partners — expertise critical to the successful implementation of our sports strategy and our continued commitment to outstanding sports programming at CBC,” said Neil McEneaney, chief business cfficer, CBC English Services.
Prior to his post at Curling Canada, Stemlaw was chief executive officer of the Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort, and director of Sport Services & Bobsleigh/Luge at the Calgary Olympic Development Association (CODA).
