History of Sports Movies in 7 Minutes: James Corden and co. recreate classics – Entertainment Weekly

James Corden used his post-Super Bowl 50 show and guests Anna Kendrick, Zac Efron, and Adam DeVine to recreate many of the best sports movies from the last 40 years on Sunday’s Late Late Show.

Called “History of Sports in 7 Minutes,” the foursome actually ran through the sketches in just over six minutes. Starting with Bad News Bears and ending with a montage of Rocky movies (but not Creed), Corden and company hit a number of favorites, including The Karate Kid, Hoosiers, Varsity Blues, The Sandlot, and Remember the Titans. (Corden went so far to drink a raw egg, a la Rocky Balboa, as proof of his commitment to the bit.)

Viral moments appeared throughout, with Efron referencing High School Musical during the Hoosiers recreation, and Kendrick giving a go at impersonating Sandra Bullock from The Blind Side.

In addition to being a solid late-night bit, History of Sports in 7 Minutes served as stealth marketing too: Kendrick, Efron, and DeVine star in this summer’s Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and a trailer for the film appeared just after the segment ended.
