All three Russian athletes selected for Rio have been cleared to compete by World Archery, which says they have been tested extensively. None of the three has previously been sanctioned for doping. The World Archery president, Prof Dr Ugur Erdener, said: “The World Archery executive board was satisfied that, within the framework established by the IOC, archery’s three qualified Russian Federation athletes should be eligible to compete in Rio.”

Athletics

The IAAF confirmed a ban for Russia’s track and field athletes from Rio in June, a decision upheld by the court of arbitration for sport last week when it turned down appeals from 68 athletes. The IAAF allowed the whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova to compete under a neutral flag along with the long-jumper Darya Klishina, who is based in Florida. However, Sunday’s IOC ban on anyone who has served a doping ban rules out Stepanova. In June, the IAAF president, Lord Coe, said: “Russian athletes could not credibly return to international competition without undermining the confidence of their competitors and the public.”

Badminton

No decision confirmed by BWF. Reports in Russia said the national federation had received a letter from BWF clearing all four selected athletes.

“AIBA has taken note and supports the decision of the IOC executive board concerning the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic Games Rio 2016. We are reviewing and analysing, on a case-by-case basis, the anti-doping record of the 11 Russian boxers currently qualified for Rio 2016. This information and the decision of AIBA in respect of the athletes’ eligibility will be submitted to the IOC for confirmation in due course.”
Canoeing

The International Canoe Federation has removed five athletes: Elena Aniushina, kayak double 500m (K2W); Natalia Podolskaia, kayak single 200m (K1W); Alexander Dyachenko, kayak double 200m (K2M); Andrey Kraitor, canoe single 200m (C1M); Alexey Korovashkov, canoe double 1000m (C2M). They have been replaced by Austria (K2W), Germany (K1W), Sweden (K2M) and Iran (C1M).
Cycling

The UCI declined to comment. It is understood it will make a decision in the coming days after studying the IOC ruling. One of the selected Russian athletes in the road team, Ilnur Zakarin, who won a stage at this year’s Tour de France, is ruled out because he served a two-year ban after testing positive for a steroid in 2009.
Equestrianism

The FEI said there was no indication of doping within Russia’s five-rider team. No statement was released.

Only one Russian golfer was selected for Rio, Maria Vitalevna Balikoeva, and the International Golf Federation is evaluating the situation. “The IGF is carefully reviewing the IOC executive board’s decision of 24 July 2016 and will continue to protect our player’s rights to a clean sport and a clean Olympic competition.”
Gymnastics

The Fédération International de Gymnastique has not specified a timeframe for reaching a decision on eligible athletes. “The FIG has taken note of the IOC executive board’s decision concerning the participation of Russian athletes at the Rio Olympic Games and shall fully adhere to it. The FIG will – as soon as possible – establish the ‘pool of Russian eligible athletes’ as per the criteria stated in the IOC decision, and will have it verified as requested in point 4, then forward it to all concerned parties.”
Handball

The International Handball Federation plans to conduct tests on every selected athlete before reaching a decision. “After the decision of the IOC, the IHF reacted immediately by sending a letter to the Russian Handball Federation to collect whereabouts information to conduct out-of-competition tests of the Russian women’s team participating in the 2016 Olympic Games. The samples will be analysed by one of the Wada accredited laboratories.”
Judo

The International Judo Federation, of which Vladimir Putin is honorary president, cleared every athlete selected.

The UIPM blocked reserve Ilia Frolov and team memeber Maksim Kustov because both appear in the McLaren report for failing tests for steroids that were fraudulently recorded as negatives.
Kustov’s place will now go to Ruslan Nakonechnyi of Latvia. The three remaining members of Russia’s team will go to Rio.

The World Rowing Federation said yesterday that six Russian rowers met conditions to take part in the Rio Olympics but that 17 entered rowers and two of the cox did not. The rowing organisation had said on Monday three other Russian rowers did not meet conditions to compete in Rio.

Fina has ruled seven of Russia’s selected swimmers ineligible. Four were withdrawn by the Russian Olympic Committee due to previous doping sanctions – Mikhail Dovgalyuk, Yuliya Efimova, Natalia Lovtcova, Anastasia Krapivina – while the other three were named in the recent McLaren report. None of the synchronised swimmers, divers or water polo team‑members selected were implicated in the report. Fina will now retest all samples of Russian athletes collected at last year’s world championships in Kazan. Of the remaining 30-strong swimming team, eight divers and 13 water polo players, a Fina statement said: “The Fina doping‑control review board will conduct a review and issue a recommendation in respect to whether Russian athletes were subject to a reliable anti-doping scrutiny, for a decision to be made by the Fina executive.”

Every tennis player selected by Russia for the Games in Rio was cleared to compete by the International Tennis Federation within an hour of the IOC decision on Sunday. All eight have “been subject to a rigorous anti‑doping testing programme outside Russia” said the ITF in a statement. “The ITF believes that this is sufficient for the eight Russian players to meet the relevant requirement of today’s decision of the IOC executive board.”
