There were also no guests with only two witnesses as required by law as well as their two-year-old son Martin.
According to a report in Spain, the couple wanted to keep the news secret until the summer, when they thought to tell family and friends at a special party.

The couple had started a relationship in 2010 and were at the centre of a media frenzy when the Spanish captain kissed his reporter girlfriend on the lips during a live interview after his team’s World Cup win.

Casillas, 34, now plays for Porto, and his reporter wife apparently wanted the wedding to be a simple affair because they have already pledged their commitment to each other, but also wanted it officially registered.
There was also no time for a long honeymoon as right after the ceremony, the player travelled to Italy with the Spanish national team while Carbonero also had a commitment to appear in public for a promotional event.
There was no indication that they were now married until it was leaked local media some days later. The couple are expecting their second child in June.
Carbonero worked as a sports journalist in Madrid and was a presenter for TV network Telecinco since the early 2000s until she moved to Portugal with Casillas earlier this year.

Casillas is currently battling it out with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea for Spain’s No 1 spot and played in Sunday’s 0-0 friendly draw with Romania to equal the record for most international caps by a European player.
Casillas’s 166th appearance for Spain, over a 16 year span that includes winning the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, took him level with Latvia’s Vitalijs Astafjevs in the continent’s record books.
The goalkeeper has also not conceded a goal in 710 minutes for Spain but he was forced to make a couple of fine saves to keep the clean sheet.

In November 2015, Carbonero joined her new husband at the Palace of Moncloa in Madrid after he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sports Merit.
Casillas was presented with the award by the Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy Mariano Rajoy to recognise his distinguished service in sport.
‘I would like to thank the Spanish government for presenting me with this medal,’ Casillas said at the ceremony last year.
‘I’m not sure I deserve it, but I’m filled with happiness. I dedicate this decoration to the people who have helped me over the course of my career, but in particular Sara, and my son Martin.’
