‘Inappropriate encounters’ with junior staff led to Schumer aide ouster – Washington Examiner

A former communications director for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. was forced out for alleged inappropriate behavior.

According to a new report in the Huffington Post, Matt House was pushed out of Schumer’s office after six years just after the November midterm elections.

Sources told the outlet that House had inappropriate sexual encounters with junior staffers, which a spokesman for Schumer confirmed.

“Upon learning that he had inappropriate encounters within the office and that it was making some staff uncomfortable, he was asked to leave,” the spokesman said.

House said he has since stopped drinking in an effort to be a better person and colleague.

“I deeply regret the mistakes I made on the number of occasions when I had too much to drink, and I apologize to anyone who was affected by my behavior. I have always respected all of my colleagues and I was horrified to learn that I made anyone feel uncomfortable,” House said.
