Ivanka Trump has come under fire for remarks she made in an upcoming Fox News interview.

The president’s daughter and White House senior adviser spoke about a guaranteed minimum wage during a conversation with Fox News host Steve Hilton about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Democrat-backed Green New Deal.

“I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something. I’ve spent a lot of time traveling around this country over the last 4 years. People want to work for what they get,” Trump said in the interview.

“So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want. They want the ability to be able to secure a job. They want the ability to live in a country where’s there’s the potential for upward mobility.”

Ivanka later tweeted she does support a minimum wage, but reaffirmed she does “not believe in a minimum guarantee for people ‘unwilling to work’.”

But that didn’t stop “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah from mocking the first daughter during his show on Tuesday night.

Noah played a clip of Ivanka’s comments before launching into his criticism.

“Are you s—ting me right now?” the host joked.

“Ivanka Trump says the thing she’s learned in life is people want to work for what they get? Really? The woman whose resume just says, ‘Daddy, I need job now.’ That woman? Really?”

Noah wasn’t the only person to respond to Trump’s remarks on Tuesday, with Ocasio-Cortez claiming the first daughter had only a “2nd-hand” understanding of work.

“As a person who actually worked for tips & hourly wages in my life, instead of having to learn about it 2nd-hand, I can tell you that most people want to be paid enough to live,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

“A living wage isn’t a gift, it’s a right. Workers are often paid far less than the value they create.”
