Mario and his friends are starring in another sports game, Mario Sports Superstars, which is on the way to Nintendo 3DS in spring 2017, Nintendo announced today during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
Mario Sports Superstars will feature five different sports: baseball, soccer, tennis, golf and horse racing. While the game doesn’t look like it’s intended to offer a simulation experience, it will be realistic in terms of how the sports are set up.
“These are full-scale sports, and there’s more to them than you may expect,” said Nintendo’s Bill Trinen during the Nintendo Direct. For instance, the version of soccer in Mario Sports Superstars is a full 11-on-11 experience. In addition to single-player tournaments, each sport can be played in a local and online multiplayer modes.
Nintendo showed some gameplay footage featuring characters such as Mario, Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Birdo and Waluigi. For more, check out the relevant section of the Nintendo Direct right here.
