Mike Ashley appears in front of MPs for Sports Direct grilling – Telegraph.co.uk

Today’s main man will be Iain Wright, MP for Hartlepool and chairman of the business, innovation and skills committee.

He’ll be giving a warm welcome, no doubt, to Mr Ashley, who wrote to the MP in March saying he was “disgusted to learn that you have adopted a stance that is deliberately antagonistic”.

Mr Ashley then went on to accuse the committee chairman of “abusing Parliamentary procedure in an attempt to create a media circus”.

That was after Mr Wright warned the Newcastle United owner that he was in danger of being in contempt of parliament if he continued to avoid appearing in front of them.

Mr Wright, the shadow minister for business, innovation and skills, was elected chairman of the committee in June 2015.

The other members of the committee are: Paul Blomfield (Lab), Richard Fuller (Con), Peter Kyle (Lab), Amanda Milling (Con), Jonathan Reynolds (Lab), Amanda Solloway (Con), Michelle Thomson (Independent), Kelly Tolhurst (Con), Craig Tacey (Con), Chris White (Con).
