While many New Jersey residents awoke to find little to no snow on the ground Tuesday morning, weather forecasts say the worst of the winter storm expected to hit the state with a mix of snow, ice and freezing rain is yet to come.
Once it starts, the storm could last much of the day, according to the National Weather Service, which has issued winter storm warnings and advisories for nearly the entire state. The weather service, however, has continued to say that the confidence in final snow totals remains lower than normal for this storm. Subtle changes in the timing and location of the shift from snow to freezing rain and then later to rain could shift the snow and ice accumulations.
