Pelosi won’t return Facebook chief’s calls – Washington Examiner

Nancy Pelosi has no interest in hearing from Mark Zuckerberg.

In the weeks following Facebook’s refusal to take down a doctored video of the House speaker appearing to struggle speaking, Pelosi has not returned Facebook CEO Zuckerberg’s calls. According to the Washington Post, Zuckerberg has tried and failed to reach Pelosi to discuss how the company handles viral misinformation. Spokesmen for Pelosi and Facebook declined to comment on the calls.

The May 24 video, which appears to show Pelosi talking slowly and struggling to finish her sentences, was doctored to make it seem she was struggling to speak coherently.

Facebook refused calls to take it down, citing community standards that do not require posts to be true.

Pelosi criticized Facebook for refusing to remove the video, claiming they were “lying to the public” by keeping the video up.

Many prominent political figures shared the video, which appeared on multiple social media platforms, including former Mayor of New York City and Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani later removed his tweet.
